GUSTO : “THE NEW BIG DREAM” | DREAM SMALL
I’m incredibly honored to be the voice of Gusto’s new “Dream Small” campaign and its beautiful hero film, “The New Big Dream.”
There’s something I really love about the heart behind this campaign. It celebrates the people who bet on themselves, build something of their own, and decide that success doesn’t necessarily have to mean bigger. Sometimes the dream is simply building something meaningful and doing it your way.
And the team behind this thing is pretty extraordinary.
Created with Gusto and Special US, produced by MJZ, directed by Nick Ball, and shot by legendary cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema (Oppenheimer, The Odyssey), the film was approached with the scale and craft of a feature while telling a wonderfully human story about one person’s dream of building a small business.
And for me, it’s also a pretty beautiful reminder of what I love about traditionally crafted advertising.
Human ideas. Human actors. Human voices. Directors, cinematographers, casting directors, editors, musicians, crews and artists all bringing their own little piece of themselves to the same story.
This is how incredible campaigns get made, through collaboration, taste, performance, happy accidents, direction, and a whole lot of talented human beings making choices together. In a moment when there’s so much conversation about replacing pieces of that process with artificial intelligence, I’m incredibly proud to be part of work that reminds me just how powerful human creativity and human performance can be.
Getting to add my voice to something created by artists at this level is one of those jobs that makes me stop for a second and go,
man... I get to do this for a living.
